Who You Fear Determines Who You Honor | Breaking Intimidation 4
In week four of our Breaking Intimidation series, we look at something subtle but powerful that often shapes our decisions without us realizing it: misplaced honor.
The Bible tells us that the fear of man is a snare. When the opinions, reactions, or approval of people begin to carry more weight in our hearts than the voice of God, our obedience can slowly start to shift. We may still love God and desire to follow Him, but intimidation can quietly influence the choices we make.
Throughout Scripture we see how this plays out in the lives of people like Eli, Aaron, Moses, and even Peter. Each of them faced moments where the pressure of people threatened to outweigh their reverence for God. And if we’re honest, many of us have felt that same tension in our own lives.
But the solution is not simply trying harder to be bold. Scripture points us to something deeper: the fear of the Lord. When God holds the highest place of honor in our hearts, the voices of people begin to lose their power, and our lives start to align around one simple question—what honors Him?
This message is an invitation to examine whose voice carries the greatest weight in our hearts and to return honor to the place it belongs. When the fear of the Lord takes its rightful place in our lives, intimidation begins to lose its grip and freedom grows in its place.
