The Storm. The Rock. The Foundation.

Everyone's house looks fine from the outside.

The photos. The job that sounds like it's going well. The family that seems to be holding together. We measure our own week against what other people let us see and come away sure they have something we don't.

Then something difficult arrives.

It turns out you can't tell anything about a foundation until the weather changes.

This week we open Matthew 7 and the story Jesus told. Two builders. Two houses. One storm. Same rain, same rivers, same wind against both — and one difference underneath.

This message is about why following Jesus doesn't exempt us from the storm, what Paul learned about being content in any circumstance, and the difference between hearing the words of Jesus and actually putting them into practice.

The storm changes. The rock never does. The foundation is the part we get to build.
